What is physical abuse

Physical abuse is when a person uses physical force against you, which causes, or could cause, you harm.

This might include:

  • scratching or biting
  • pushing or shoving
  • slapping or kicking
  • choking or strangling
  • throwing things
  • force feeding or denying you food
  • using weapons or objects that may hurt you
  • physically restraint
  • reckless or careless driving

It is important to remember their violent behaviour is always their responsibility, not yours. Abuse and violence are never acceptable.
